Day One

Hi everyone! This is the first day of the rest of my life.. of my life as a digital nomad. - not looking to become a millionaire, or to work from a different city every week... All I'm after is to make a living working from home running online businesses and/or freelancing. It was the path I started in 2004, when I worked as a freelance translator and copywriter for various clients based in Barcelona, and on a regular basis for a London press-monitoring company. My circumstances then, however, were not that favourable; I was paying a really expensive and ever-increasing rent right at the heart of Barcelona, and my running expenses were rocket high (bills, internet connection, etc.) When an interesting employment opportunity came along I tried to keep both, but I eventually ditched my freelance activity and concentrated on my 9 to 6 job. Fifteen years later my situation is different, and I think the moment is just right for me to take off to a work life that is more empowering. I need more time for myself and my dear ones, and I will enjoy steering my ideas and efforts to give shape to an activity that is more flexible, more creative and more empowering.

I have tons of ideas but I don't want to dissipate my energy. So I will start straight away with a website idea which I think could be fun. If things work out it could generate some revenue from advertising. we shall see. I'll start right away with the text, and will write to someone who I need to ask for collaboration. So, in that order, I will write a piece of text for that website, and after I've done that, I'll look for a way to contact that person I have in mind. I'll call this Project 1, for the moment, until I find a name for the website.

Let's hope I can keep up this blog, ideally for 21 days running, which apparently is the time it takes  to forge a new habit or routine.

The scope of this blog is to prove (to myself and to any other sceptics) that it is really possible to generate enough income to make a living by starting online work from home, and to gauge the length of time needed to reach a level of income enough to guarantee at least a modest standard of living (in Barcelona).

Without further ado.. and after about an hour spent writing and reading up on blog creation advice, mostly two blog posts by miposicionamentoweb.es, I have decided to return to Blogger, almost twenty years later. At the time I had published an interview with a very famous Spanish writer, which attracted lots of comments from international readers. I wonder if I can find any trace of that post.. Anyway, I think for now it is enough. I am pleased with the work done. It's taken less time than I expected, and the writing has flowed. I'll post again soon. Thank you all for reading!
